There is something about controlling nature which seems very romantic, but is really highly irresponsible. I guess it’s the god like aspect of being able to create land where land doesn’t exist which moves these greedy developers in creating man-made icons. Whether it be pill shape islands off the coast of Miami, or the Palm shape islands in Dubai, developers are interested in creating the perfect island community, with the most ocean front houses, with no regard for the environment surrounding it. Dredging the ocean floor for building material cannot be good for the surrounding marine community. It doesn’t seem like the time or the place either. With sea levels rising, naturally formed islands such as those in the Maldives and the Marshall islands are disappearing a little every year. In my mind nature always wins and will take back these constructed islands.
